While in Lake Placid we visited one of our favorite little sandwich shops…Simply Gourmet: Home of the 46 Best Sandwiches in the High Peaks! Their food is all natural, all fresh, and all homemade, everyday.
The sandwiches are named for each of the 46 Mountain Peaks in the Adirondack region. These little beauties represent a lot of territory – actually, the largest forever wild territory in all of America – so you would expect that they will deliver big on flavor! And boy, do they! Of course, the combination of flavors layered in each sandwich are delectable, but it’s the homemade bread that steals the show.
Dominick and I both got the “Gray”, named after the seventh highest peak in the region. The sandwich is layered high with roast turkey, sopressata, provolone, roasted red peppers and pesto mayo on Hearth bread. You’d think we would each get a different sandwich to share – but you know how you want what you want when you want it and nothing else would do… It was the pesto mayo that sold me and the sopressata, Dom. Luckily Chels and Nick had different cravings, so we had a nice variety to try!
We got a small side of macaroni salad and a cold Arnold Palmer to drink. I love celery in my mac salad. That little bit of crunch makes all the difference!
Such a yummy day! We can’t wait to go back!
Ciao!
