Do you keep extra oyster crackers in your pantry? If so – you’re in luck (!) because it’s pretty likely that you have everything else you need to make this savory and delicious crunchy munchy.
We just so happen to keep oyster crackers around because Dom likes them on just about all his soups and his chili too. I tend to lean more toward the corn chip as a topping – but that’s what makes us individuals…that’s what makes us beautiful…
It’s been a long time since I’ve made Garlic & Herb Oyster Crackers, but for some reason Nick’s been craving them which gave me the idea to make some and surprise him with a batch.
He called the other day to ask if we could deliver him some items to school that he left behind; so after twisting our arm for about 2 seconds, we happily agreed to gather up his stuff, and while Dom was loading the car, I thought to make this quick, simple and yummy snack that he could enjoy while getting through his Philosophy homework…(Anything to help with that – right?!)
The first time I remember having these crackers was at Mema’s house many, many years ago. I don’t remember her cupboards being filled with glossy bags of salty snacks (…maybe a tin of Charles Chips…) but I do remember her homemade oyster cracker mix. And what I recall most was its wonderful garlicky-dill flavor, with just a hint of salt.
With the Super Bowl just around the corner – this is a nice little recipe that suits well with a frosty brew and just about everything else you’ll have on your snack table!
It’s also perfect on its own if you’re craving a crunchy little savory bite to help keep you awake through your late night studies! 😉
