These Cinnamon Cream Cheese Roll-Ups are the best thing to happen to sliced bread since….sliced bread!
I was moved to reintroduce this recipe as it’s one of my most visited and pinned posts. And like anything I bring back from my early years, new photos were in order. Nothing about the recipe needed changing – it’s a classic – and the story remains the same. But believe me, it’s a recipe you’ll want to keep close at hand as friends and family stop over during the holidays.
While organizing my recipe drawer, I stumbled upon directions for a dessert that I hadn’t made in years. This small torn and tattered recipe card, wedged between the pages of a book, had made its way back to my attention.
I love this recipe…
I was first introduced to it back in my newlywed days when I was just beginning to collect recipes.
A colleague of mine hosted a group of us for a work/social gathering at her house. I remember walking into her Tudor style home and thinking what a beautiful residence with all of its nooks and crannies. Anyway, after the tour, but before shop-talk, she brought out desserts, which included, Cinnamon Cream Cheese Roll-Ups.
This dessert, aromatic and fancy (to me), created quite the shock for us all when we discovered that its main ingredient was sliced bread.
It’s a winner on so many levels…
And here’s the good news: all that stands between you and this spectacular treat is:
- Sliced Bread
- Cream Cheese
- Vanilla
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
- Melted Butter
To begin, you’ll remove the crusts and roll each piece of bread flat with a rolling pin.
Then, you’ll coat the bread with vanilla-sweetened cream cheese, roll it up, and dip in melted butter.
Lastly, roll it through some cinnamon sugar, then bake until slightly puffy and completely warmed through.
It’s perfect nosh with a steaming cup of tea or your favorite espresso…great for dinner parties, baby showers, and holiday brunches…really any place where people congregate and don’t mind that their day is made sweeter by a tasty treat that’s warm and cinnamon-y.
Buon Appetito!

Hi Annie!
I’m just seeing your Cinnamon Cream Cheese Roll-Ups! They look DELISH! Can I make ahead and freeze once they’re baked?
Annie says
Thank you! This one’s a keeper! I have never frozen mine – although it is safe to refrigerate and reheat within a few days.

Just a quick question hon, could u do the same with a pre-rolled puff pastry cut into bread sized squares? Thanku 😀
Annie says
Hmm…good question! I’ve never tried it, but I need to! If it works – that would be divine! Wish I could offer more!

This recipe sounds great, I’m definitely going to try it. I do have a totally non-related question. Your hair is so beautiful, can I ask what type of product you use that brings out each individual wave so nicely? I’m having trouble with my hair, all it does is frizz.

Thank you! I use Amika products…they work so well and smell so good!!

Can you serve these at room temperature
Annie says
Sure 🙂
Kim says
Will the bread fall apart when spreading the cream cheese? Can you use whipped cream cheese?
Annie says
Hi Kim… Because you roll the bread flat, first, it creates a much sturdier platform to spread the cream cheese. I’ve never had a problem with it. Thanks for your question.
