As I prepare to share what I hope will bring you some moments of delight, I thought you might want to know a little bit about me. My name is Annie and I am a “woman of a certain age” who has decided to take a leap of faith! I was an educator for a number of years and recently retired to pursue other avenues that also speak to my heart, namely, writing, cooking, and photography.
Born and raised in an Italian-American family, I’ve lived my entire life in Central New York. I married my best friend 28 years ago and together we treasure our three awesome kids who are now making their way in the world. To experience their launch and to navigate the powerful swells of emotion that come from watching them grow and go is quite a feat, quite a gift, but quite a feat, so Dominick and I have taken to creating meaningful activities that will fill the empty spaces they leave behind. Empty nest – here we come! Fortunately, when this seismic shift in the household began, I picked up a camera, and the rest, as they say, is history.
My sweet family, back in 2006, during our first trip to Roma!
You could call me a foodie. Many of my fondest, most vivid memories of childhood include the gorgeous food, the amazing aromas and the gifts of laughter that were created in the kitchens and around the tables of my Italian grandmothers. When I think back on the feasts they produced in their tiny galley kitchens, my heart races and my stomach yearns for their eggplant Parmesan, fried meatballs and perfect lasagnas that ‘looked so easy’ and tasted so delicious.
If I can convey through my words and photography the warm feelings I experience just thinking about the special moments of life… moments from our past and present, I’ll have done my job!
This is about creating beautiful images. This is personal. Thank you for sitting at my table…
A little bit more about me…
I shoot using a Nikon D7100 and as much natural light as possible. This has its challenges given we live in always beautiful but not always sunny Central New York.
My blog is powered by WordPress along with an unbelievable amount of support from my family! Tech support, taste-testing, honest opinions, you get the picture!
I have baked more apple pie than any other dessert, except for maybe cinnamon toast – does that count?
I love wine, especially paired with good friends and a brick of cheese.
I know I’m getting older because I care less about cool boots and more about good running shoes. Ok…they’re tied.
I love everything Italian. Everything.
I do not know what I would do without my books!
I hold a Master’s in Special Education and School Counseling.
I must give a very special thank you to my dearest Dominick, and our three beautiful children – Lauren, Chelsea and Nicholas, for their help and support, spot-on-taste-tester skills and overall awesomeness!!!!
And to you…thank you for taking time to visit me! You are the best!
Ciao Chow Bambina!
I have a photography blog too – come visit!
